Futatsu Wall Light

Most wall lights choose a direction — up or down — and commit to it. Futatsu does both. Two cylindrical bodies extend from a single circular mount, one pointing upward, one pointing down, each holding a soft globe bulb. The result is a sconce that fills the wall with light from both sides of the fixture, creating a warm, even ambient glow rather than a single focused beam.

Each Futatsu comes in a deliberate colour variation, from single-colour finishes to two-tone combinations where the upper and lower cylinders either match or contrast. Some versions feel softer and quieter; others add more graphic tension to the wall. What stays constant is the balance of the composition: two opposing cylinders, one circular mount, and a colour arrangement that makes the fitting feel chosen rather than generic.

The form is compact and symmetrical — two rounded cylinders, a disc, a thin connecting stem. Nothing extraneous, nothing decorative. Yet on a pale wall, Futatsu reads clearly and confidently, the way a well-chosen ceramic or a single framed print does. It is a light fitting that functions as wall sculpture when switched off, and as atmosphere when switched on.

A pair flanking a bed headboard, at matching heights, replacing bedside lamps without cluttering the nightstands. A single piece at the end of a hallway, where the upward glow catches the ceiling and the downward glow lights the floor. Or a short series spaced evenly along a staircase wall, each casting its double halo of light as you pass. Futatsu suits interiors where even the utility objects are chosen with care.
